What We Do

Echosec Systems is a fast growing security software company committed to making the world’s data more discoverable.

Since 2013, we’ve leveraged publicly available data to help solve some of the world’s most intractable security problems.

We’re trusted by some of the most significant public and private sector organizations globally to support their missions.

What We're Looking For

Echosec Systems is looking for a Backend Developer on the Product Engineering team who is interested in building new functionality, efficiency, and performance for our suite of open source intelligence tools.

Day-to-day, you’ll work with a distributed, event-driven Laravel PHP application backed by Postgres, Redis, Docker, and Kubernetes to deliver in a high-velocity environment using continuous integration and deployment.

We take pride in shipping code to production on day one.

You are the right candidate if…

  • You enjoy working within an environment that values shipping code to production and iterating on peer and customer feedback.
  • You enjoy working collaboratively with stakeholders inside and outside the R&D team.

Required Experience

2+ years of backend development experience, with at least 1 of them being hands-on with Laravel or a similar web framework (Ruby on Rails or Django).

Types of Projects You May Work On

  • Building out a distributed event system for data aggregation that handles millions of events per day.
  • Implement robust performance monitoring and tracing across the entire backend stack.
  • A ground-up rework of our authentication and authorization system for enterprise-level SSO and organization management.
  • Mentorship for new graduates and developers just starting their careers.
  • Building a modern search engine across dozens of dynamic data sources.
  • Refactor code when you spot opportunities for improved performance and easier maintenance.

Useful Skills

  • Prioritize using metrics to help solve engineering challenges you might encounter day-to-day.
  • Integrating third-party APIs and building maintainable data aggregation systems.
  • Enthusiasm and understanding of architecture patterns and when to apply them.
  • An understanding of PHP-FPM and Nginx.
  • Hands-on DevOps experience with cloud infrastructure.
